The District Commissioner of Mlele, Hon. Alhaj Majid Mwanga, conducted an official visit to the Mizengo Pinda Campus of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Katavi Region to inspect the progress of two key infrastructure projects currently under construction. The projects include a modern academic building and a student dormitory; both being constructed by TIL Construction Company under the sponsorship of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project.
Hon. Mwanga was welcomed by Prof. Christopher Mahonge, Deputy Principal for Academic, Research and Consultancy at the Mizengo Pinda Campus, who provided a detailed briefing on the projects and the milestones achieved so far.
During the inspection, Hon. Mwanga expressed his satisfaction with both the pace and quality of the ongoing construction. He emphasized that the completion of these facilities will significantly enhance the campus’s teaching and learning environment, while also increasing its capacity to admit more students.
“It is encouraging to see these projects progressing well and meeting the expected standards. We recognize the important role that SUA’s Mizengo Pinda Campus plays in training professionals for our nation. The completion of these buildings will strengthen that mission,” said Hon. Mwanga.
The District Commissioner also urged TIL Construction to ensure timely and quality delivery of the projects to avoid any delays. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing full support in addressing any challenges that may arise during construction.
Once completed, the new academic complex and dormitory buildings are expected to alleviate the shortage of teaching spaces and student accommodations on the campus. This will expand access to higher education for more young Tanzanians, particularly in key areas of agricultural and environmental sciences that are offered by SUA.
Hon. Mwanga concluded by extending heartfelt gratitude to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her continued efforts to strengthen the education sector. He noted that the President’s leadership and investment in education have played a pivotal role in expanding opportunities for Tanzanians from primary school to university level, thereby empowering them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
