Final Year Bee Resources Management Students of SUA Mizengo Pinda Campus Defend Special Projects

On February 19, 2026, thirty-eight final year students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bee Resources Management at the Mizengo Pinda Campus of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) successfully defended their Special Project (SP) proposals at the Campus Conference Hall.

The academic exercise was supervised by the Head of the Department of Natural Resources Management and Conservation (NRMC), Mr. Evaristus Magani, who oversaw the presentations and provided academic guidance throughout the session. The students confidently presented and defended their research proposals before a panel of experienced lecturers, marking an important milestone in their academic journey and preparation for professional careers.

Speaking during the session, Mr. Magani commended the students for their commitment, innovation, and the high quality of their research proposals. He noted that the Special Projects are designed to equip students with practical research competencies while generating scientific solutions to challenges facing the bee resources sector and natural resources management in Tanzania.

“The Special Project programme is an essential component of our academic training, as it exposes students to real research environments and strengthens their ability to develop practical, science-based solutions to national and global challenges,” he said.

The Special Project defence reflects the strong research culture at Mizengo Pinda Campus, which serves as an important academic center for training professionals in bee resources management and natural resources conservation. Through such academic activities, the campus continues to contribute to the development of skilled graduates capable of supporting environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and the advancement of Tanzania’s green economy.

This initiative further demonstrates Sokoine University of Agriculture’s broader institutional commitment to integrating research, innovation, and practical learning at the undergraduate level.
